New biofuels process promises to meet all US transportation needs?

Purdue University is promising a revolutionary breakthrough to dramatically increase biofuel production. The process depends on hydrogen which is expensive to produce via electrolysis. So we will see how practical the process will actually be.

  1. That would definitely be one to follow. I've just been growing more concerned than ever about the next century, reminded by peak oil activist Paul Chefurka about how hugely industrial agriculture boosted the earth's carrying capacity. Then, considering its dependence on oil and the whole peak oil issue, well, that leads to some pretty horrific scenarios. Maybe this Purdue thing can generate some hope.
